Girls Representing In Trades (GRIT) Program at Missoula College

On Saturday, February 25, we welcomed YWCA's Girls Representing In Trades (GRIT) program to west campus. The program is part of the YWCA's Girls Using Their Strength (GUTS!) program and aims to break down long-standing gender barriers in male occupations - including welding. The program was launched this past January for girls in 7th to 12th grade, and has been a rewarding success for the participants.

The Missoula Current wrote a great article on the experience and how the welding profession's gender barriers are beginning to shift.

Interested in getting involved with GUTS! or GRIT? The YWCA has more information about both programs on their website. For more information on our Welding Program, please visit our Industrial Technology page.
