Health IT is the application of information technology in the clinical setting to enhance the quality, accessibility, and cost effectiveness of healthcare.  The healthcare industry is among the fasting growing segments of the economy.

The implementation of information technology in the healthcare has led to the creation of the electronic medical record and electronic health records.  Clinical Healthcare Information Technology is a specialized segment of the industry requiring expertise in clinical healthcare and information technology.

The Missoula College offers two options for individuals interested in pursuing educational opportunites in Health IT: a Professional Certificate in Health Information Technology and a General AA degree with coursework emphasizing Health IT designed to prepare students to seamlessly transfer to Montana Tech for completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Care Informatics.
