The Department of Applied Computing and Engineering Technology offers Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degrees, Certificate of Applied Science (C.A.S.) programs, and Professional Certificates. A.A.S. degrees require at least 60 credits of coursework in the designated area of study. Academically-prepared full time students (15 credits/semester) can typically complete the credential in two years. C.A.S. programs require at least 30 credits of coursework in the designated area with academically prepared full time students (15 credits/semester) completing the credential within one year. Professional certificates are flexible and range from 12-29 credits of coursework.

Engineering Technology programs of study focus on the application and implementation of engineering practices. Students in the Computer-Aided Design seek employment as CAD draftsman and engineering technicians.

Planning and managing an organization’s IT infrastructure is a difficult and complex job that requires a solid foundation in applied computing as well as management and people skills. IT professionals possess the right combination of knowledge and practical, hands-on expertise to take care of both an organization’s information technology infrastructure and the people who use it (ACM, Computing Careers). Missoula College offers a variety of Information Technology programs of study in Network Administration & Security, Programming & App Development, Computer Support, Health Care Informatics, and Network Information Security

Baccalaureate pathways are specific plans of study designed to help students earn a two-year degree while simultaneously working towards UM baccalaureate degree requirements. Faculty from the Department of Applied Computing & Engineering have worked to develop several pathways with faculty at four-year programs of study to develop opportunities for two-year college students to continue their studies in pursuing the baccalaureate degree.
