The Cyber Defense Toolbox

The workforce heat map, a collaborative project between the National Initiative for Cybersecurity Education (NICE), CompTIA, and Burning Glass, displays national and state-by-state data on cybersecurity positions and personnel. Positions are aligned with the National Cybersecurity Workforce Framework, and the supply and demand of common industry certifications (Security+, CISSP, CISA, CIPP, CISM) are shown. Data is updated annually on a July-June calendar. The site also contains an interactive career map that describes demand, salary, desired skills, and education for a variety of positions.

The Cyber Defense workforce encompasses many levels in terms of knowledge, skills, and abilities. The NCWF organizes the profession into 7 categories, 33 specialty areas, and 52 work roles. Individuals interested in a career in cybersecurity should investigate the options described in the framework - you may discover a new calling!
