Instructors:

Students are responsible for initiating the make-up test process, including setting an appointment, delivering the Make-Up Test Prescription to you for signature, and communicating any appointment changes.

  1. Appointments are necessary, and must be made at least 2 business days in advance.  This ensures time for communication between you and the student, gives you time to deliver the test, and allows the LC to schedule the tests appropriately.

  3. You may deliver tests to the LC in person by visiting MC022, or via email at betsy.cincoski@umontana.edu
  4. Please pick up completed exams during LC open hours.

Disability Services for Students

Instructors

Students must initiate the testing process, schedule exams, and confirm with you.  Students may utilize the Accommodate system for online test appointment requests or the Test Modification form used in past semesters.

Accommodate: A web-based database and communication system used by students registered with DSS.  If a student requests an appointment through Accommodate, you will receive an email to confirm the appointment details--date, time, length of test time, materials, etc.  You may respond to this email to confirm, edit, or change the appointment.  You may also send exams digitally.

Test Modification Form: Be sure to read, fill out, and sign the Testing Modification Form in order for students to take tests in the LC.  You must indicate your preference for exam delivery and return.

After the student confirms appointments, please deliver tests to the Learning Center before the test appointment.  You may do so by dropping off a copy in MC022, or by emailing a printable version to betsy.cincoski@umontana.edu.   Please pick up tests during LC open hours.

Placement Tests

UM Writing Placement

The majority of Missoula College academic programs include a writing course requirement (either WRIT101 or WRIT121). Students may register for writing courses based on their writing placement or transfer equivalencies.

Missoula college students without a writing placement score or course equivalent are required to take the University of Montana Writing Placement Test before enrolling in WRIT101 or WRIT 121.  Students who do not have a writing placement score or transfer equivalency may elect to take WRIT 095 and not take the Writing Placement Test, before enrolling in WRIT 101 or WRIT 121.

Students may take the test online or face-to-face during orientations.  Both assessments are the same.  Click to sign up (for either method)

For more information:  call 406-243-7826 or email mcwritingplacement@mso.umt.edu

Math Placement

MC students must take the Maplesoft Math Placement Exam before enrolling in a math course.  This test is free, is not timed, and may be taken anywhere with an internet connection via Moodle (UM's online course platform).

There are three different Maplesoft Placement exams.  Students should consult their advisor to determine the appropriate exam for their course of study:

Arithmetic (M01)

Algebra (M02)

Pre-Calculus (M03)
